The Association Columbares arises from the neighborhood movements in the decade of the seventies, as a unifying element of the project "Cordillera Sur". The philosophy of the project was largely based on the participation of citizens in the processes of economic and social development of their community, where the citizens instead of being passive subjects are actively working to define their own identity.

The first stage of Columbares begins in 1977, when different social groups and individuals work together to channel the intense and highly social activity, characteristic to the years of political transition. Said transition was an important starting point for further development of social welfare policies. The second stage of Columbares begins in 1985, when associations and social groups, which worked together in the project "Cordillera Sur, unite all their efforts.

This union leads to April 1986, when the Association obtains its first legal statutes and enroll in the General Register of Associations, From then until now, Columbares: has been declared Organization of Public Interest (BOE 24-2 - 1998). has received the Silver Cross of Civil Order for Social Solidarity (BOE 12/27/99). was awarded with the Regional Award for the Commitment with Youth (2002). Association Columbares has been present in Murcia for over 20 years. It supports, develops and promotes projects related to society, employment, education and culture with different social groups. The fundamental objective of Association Columbares is social integration and employment of disadvantaged population groups: immigrants, youth, women, families, children, seniors and the unemployed, etc.

Association Columbares bases its training and job insertion activities on perspective of combating social exclusion, always seeking complementarity, coordination and synergy among different actions, as well as participation and integration of diverse sectors of the population. Association Columbares is a founder and a member of different consortiums and federations for Social Integration at the national, regional and local levels (CEPAIM, CEBS, CEIS, EAPN, RASINET). It has a team of professionals specialized in the design, development and implementation of projects in the fields of social services, training, employment and culture. Association maintains an annual average workforce of 50 employees, complemented by multiple partners, trainees, volunteers, partners, etc.. The association has earned the certification of quality management system based on ISO 9001:2008 standard

El objetivo de este programa es facilitar a los inmigrantes y colectivos desfavorecidos todas aquellas informaciones, orientaciones y servicios que les permitan dotarse de las competencias mínimas necesarias para su desenvolvimiento en la sociedad de acogida en igualdad de condiciones y posibilidades que el resto de los sectores sociales.

La Red de Centros es un servicio de primera acogida de carácter integral donde se ofrece información, orientación, asesoramiento jurídico, mediación e inserción sociolaboral para facilitar el acceso normalizado de la población inmigrante a los recursos, el fomento de la formación, el empleo de calidad y la mejora de su estatus social, acompañando a todo esto de procesos de sensibilización y participación conjuntamente con la población autóctona. Servicio que se presta desde tres localidades de la Región de Murcia: Beniaján (Murcia), Fuente Álamo y Pozo estrecho (Cartagena) a través de las siguientes actividades:

• Información sobre los recursos públicos y privados existentes en la Región de Murcia.
• Atención a núcleos familiares. Escolarización e Intermediación.
• Entrevistas de primera acogida. Traducción e Intérprete.
• Informar, gestionar, orientar y asesorar en cuestiones jurídicas, laborales y administrativas.
• Acompañamiento y tramitación de documentación ante las diversas administraciones públicas.
• Apoyo a la búsqueda y medición en vivienda y empleo.
• Actividades de sensibilización y convivencia intercultural.
• Orientación y asesoramiento recursos formativos. Derivación en función de las necesidades de los usuarios.
• Evaluación y seguimiento. Gestión Base de Datos informática.

DESTINATARIOS/AS

• Inmigrantes, fundamentalmente económicos, en situación laboral y jurídica inestable asentados en la Región de Murcia. 
• Sociedad de acogida, en general, con especial incidencia en los empleadores y con población con dificultades de inserción.
